Saxophonist Anıl Şallıel’s first solo album “166 Days” has been released through Lin Records label. The album is inspired by various cities around the world and invites the listeners to an intercultural journey.
Young talent Anıl Şallıel presents his first solo album “166 Days”, released through Lin Records. The album embodies examples of jazz, ethnic music and rap and is a reflection of spontaneous cultural transitions Şallıel has experienced during his tours on his music. The album has been released on digital platforms and consists of 7 pieces.
Şallıel brought many prominent musicians together, which includes clarinet virtuoso Hüsnü Şenlendirici, with his album “166 Days”. The titular piece features Deniz Taşar’s rap vocals, Tolga Erzurumlu on the keyboard and the piano, Hasan Gözetlik on the trumpet, Cahit Kutrafalı on bass guitar and Ekin Cengizkan on the drums. Şallıel’s brother, who is also his partner in Şallıel Bros, Batu Şallıel contributed to the album with his soprano saxophone.
Who is Anıl Şallıel?
Anıl Şallıel started to okay the saxophone when he was 8 years old with the encouragement of his father Mümin Şallıel. The musician, born in 1993, started his professional music life when he was 14 years old. He had the opportunity to share the same stage with the famous drum virtuoso Dave Weckl when he was 15 years old. Şallıel plays all genres without discrimination and is featured in more than 800 albums, TV show and movie scores as well as jingles…
He shared the same stage with famous Italian guitarist Nicola Conte in 2012 during the International Jazz Day. Şallıel, a member of Istanbul Superband and CRR Big Band, has also accompanied Natalie Cole and Dee Dee Bridgewater.
He released WDF1 album with his band What Da Funk which featured 12 musicians. He became a part of Funkbook project with Önder Focan and his brother Batu Şallıel in 2016. Şallıel Bros released their namesake album in 2018. “Funkbook A la Turc” with “Famire ve Önder Focan & Şallıel Bros” was released the same year. He played the soprano saxophone and the flute for the Turkish Airlines cabin music, directed by Serkan Çağrı in 2016.
Istanbul Jazz Festival, Baku Jazz Fest, Akbank Jazz Festival, Ankara Jazz Festival, Bursa Nilüfer Jazz Festival, Kıbrıs Mağosa Jazz Festival, Bozcaada Jazz Festival, Zorlu Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Kazakistan Almaty Jazz Festival are among many events the musician has participated in. Şallıel shared the stage with Aşkın Arsunan, Önder Focan, Aycan Teztel, Şenova Ülker,Volkan Öktem, Tuluğ Tırpan, Cenk Erdoğan, Hüsnü Şenlendirici , Serkan Çağrı, Göksun Çavdar, Volkan Hürsever, Tolga Bedir, Cahit Kutrafalı, Bilal Karaman, Cem Tuncer and Erhan Seçkin.
Şallıel is actively working with İlyas Yalçıntaş, Fikri Karayel and Volkan Konak. His ongoing projects are What Da Funk, Önder Focan & Şallıel Bros, FunkBook and Organic Expeditions.
He has recorded and performed with; Volkan Konak, Sezen Aksu, Kenan Doğulu, Ajda Pekkan, Harun Kolçak, Göksel, Funda Arar, Sıla, Berkay, Ziynet Sali, Yalın, Atiye, Teoman, Mehmet Erdem, Işın Karaca, Gökhan Türkmen, Buray, Ceylan Ertem, Bedük, İlyas Yalçıntaş, Mahmut Orhan, Manga and Cahit Berkay.
