Aycan Teztel celebrates his 50th year in the world of music and presents his half a century of accumulation with his first solo album “After A Dream”. The album, which was released through Lin Records, consists entirely of instrumental pieces.
Jazz musician Aycan Teztel presents his first solo album “After A Dream”. The musician, who can play instruments like trombone, piano and bass guitar masterfully, released his 11-track album through Lin Records.
“After A Dream” embodies different styles and tastes of jazz music and consists mostly of Teztel’s compositions and arrangements. Many virtuosi were featured in this album, such as Şenova Ülker on the trumpet, Batuhan Şallıel on the saxophone, Volkan Öktem on the drums, Okan Ersan, Ercüment Ateş and Erdem Sökmen on the guitar and Mehmet Akatay on percussion. The recording and mix were done by Ömer Göksel and the mastering was done by George Whitty. The album is available on digital platforms.
Who is Aycan Teztel?
Aycan Teztel started his music career in 1969 and studied at Istanbul State Conservatoire, Rotterdam Conservatoire, Boston University SFA and Mimar Sinan University State Conservatoire.
Teztel worked with Randy Brecker, Clifford Jordan, Jose Carreras, Vinko Globokar, Sammy Figueroa, Dzhihan & Kamien, Nicola Conte, Giovanni Hidalgo and Dave Weckl in various projects and founded Istanbul Superband in 2002. He shoulders the responsibility of the conductor and music director and has accompanied Grammy Award-winning legends such as Dianne Reeves, John Scofield, Natalie Cole, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Kurt Elling with his band. He gave concerts at Istanbul Jazz Festival, Izmir Europe Jazz Festival, Ankara Jazz Festival, Leverkursen Jazz Festival and Aalen Jazz Festival.
Teztel has been working as a faculty member at Istanbul University State Conservatoire for the past 34 years and still gives classes on trombone, chamber music, orchestra repertoire, ensemble and jazz ear training.
