Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) for the 26th time with the 22-year long sponsorship of GarantiBBVA next week. The festival is now participating in the Keychange program, which aims to achieve gender equality in the music industry. Keychange program is an international entrepreneurship that is based in England whose goal is to achieve 50:50 gender balance in festivals until 2022.
This program is also adapted by the world famous festivals like London Jazz Festival (England), ), NYC Winter Jazzfest (USA), Eurosonic (Holland) and Way Out West (Sweden). Istanbul Jazz Festival also aims to reach 50:50 gender equality until 2022 within this program. Detailed information is available on https://keychange.eu/.
Keychange program is managed by the PRS Foundation and has been a fundamental facilitator in more than 130 festivals from more than 23 countries promising to improve and develop until 2022 within the conditions of the program. More than 60 female musicians from different geographies have started collaborating with Keychange program and 7 festivals from around the world has promised to take steps to achieve 50:50 gender equality. More than 50 panels and workshops have been organized to increase the awareness on this subject in international platforms thanks to the program. The members of the program also include Ankara Jazz Festival in Turkey.
