“Jazz Camp” will be taking place for the fourth time today between 5-13 September online. The camp has been taking place at Bodrum Gümüşlük Festival area since 2017 and online classes will be offered this year due to the pandemic. The camp will feature prominent names of Turkish jazz as it has done in the past years. Sibel Köse and Ece Göksu will give jazz vokal classes, Engin Recepoğulları will teach saxophone, Bulut Gülen the trombone, Can Çankaya piano, trumpet, Eylül Biçer guitar, Kağan Yıldız double bass, electric bass and Berke Özgümüş will give drums lessons.
The online camp will last 9 days and will also feature jazz theory, ear training and jazz history classes as well. Special guests will give webinars daily during Jazz Camp. These guests will be pianist-saxophonist and composer Tuna Ötenel, drummee Ferit Odman, founders of Istanbul Hayyam Studios, recording engineers Can Aykal and Sinan Sakızlı, jazz singer, educator Randy Esen and lastly pianist-composer Aydın Esen.
Instead of its traditional closing concert, Jazz camp will allow its participants to do a professional recording session at Hayyam Studios. The participants will be able to experience the production side of music in addition to the performance aspects of it. The students who participated in the camp will be able to work as studio assistants during this session.
The webinars will take place during week days and start at 20:00.
