Musicians who will participate in the Young Jazz concert series as a part of the Istanbul Jazz Festival have been chosen. The festival is being organised for the 26th time by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) with the sponsorship of Garanti Bank in a long standing collaboration of 22 years.
Young Jazz concerts will take place for the 17th time during Istanbul Jazz Festival. The bands and solo projects that applied were evaluated on the 26th of May, Sunday, at Salon IKSV. Bilge Günaydın Trio, Bluemonk, Document1, Kazım Quintet, Mines Two and Standart Mafyası were chosen to perform at Jazz at Parks events this year during the 26th Istanbul Jazz Festival.
During the evaluation concert, which was open to the public, the Young Jazz Jury made their decision among applications that included examples from fusion jazz, rock jazz, funk jazz, latin jazz, pop jazz, acid jazz, blues, soul, R&B, elektronic jazz and similar genres. Bilge Günaydın Trio, Bluemonk, Document1, Kazım Quintet, Mines Two and Standart Mafyası will perform at Beylikdüzü Yaşam Vadisi Park, Fenerbahçe Khalkedon and Fenerbahçe Park on 29-30 June during the free-of-charge Jazz at Parks event.
The members of the Jury for Young Jazz competition, which aims to create a platform for amateur and semi-professional young musicians and bands as well as to support them and get them ready for the world of professional music, include musician Aycan Teztel, musician Ayşe Tütüncü, musician Cenk Erdoğan, musician Ceyda Köybaşıoğlu, music writer Feridun Ertaşkan, musician Harun Tekin, music writer and producer Hülya Tunçağ, musician Volkan Öktem, journalist Yekta Kopan and Istanbul Jazz Festival’s director Harun İzer this year.
Young Jazz concerts provided more than 80 young musicians and bands to participate in the festival alongside many famous musicians for the past 16 years. The musicians also participated in other festivals following Istanbul Jazz Festival and got to perform at various jazz clubs both in Turkey and abroad. The participants of Young Jazz include Gevende, Mikado, Ece Göksu, Ozan Musluoğlu, Batuhan Şallıel and Anıl Şallıel, Volkan Topakoğlu, Yaşam Hancılar, Cihan Mürtezaoğlu, Deniz Taşar, Çağrı Sertel, Ekin Cengizkan, Başak Yavuz, Tolga Erzurumlu, Tümer Uluçınar, Hakan Başar, Geeva Flava, Eylül Biçer, Sanat Deliorman, İpek Dinç, Can Tutuğ, Jazzzip Project, The Kites and Gagarin Jazz Band.
