Bodrum Jazz Festival, which started with Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Orchestra and Şenay Lambaoğlu concert on the 1st of September, drew to an end on the 8th of September. The festival, organized by Caz Derneği, was supported by Turkish Republic’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Bodrum Municipality, Renault MAIS and Turmaks, as well as many other foundations and persons.
Tourists Showed Great Interest
It was observed that tourist showed great interest for these 14 concerts and activities during the festival. The concerts at the Bodrum Castle were sold out and Dibeklihan concerts and 2 workshops at Erkan Oğur Music School received a lot of attention. The sergilenen Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University School of Fine Arts Graphic Design Department | Bodrum Jazz Festival Design Competitionexhibition that took place in Dibeklihan received many visitors. The attendees showed great care to abide by the social distancing rules due to Covid-19, providing good morale to the Bodrum locals and making sure that no problems arose.
Preparations for the 5th Bodrum Jazz Festival Start
Caz Derneği president and curator Özlem Oktar Varoğlu mentioned the preparations fort he 5th Bodrum Jazz Festival have already under way, saying “Artists from all over the World apply to participate in Bodrum Jazz Festival. We would like to make sure at least half of those who participate are Turkish artists. We were able to present a majority of local musicians, especially those local to Bodrum, this year. We already started to receive applications for next year”.
Bodrum Jazz Festival Received Support from Bodrum Foundations
As a City Planner who has works on Urban Culture and Arts, Özlem Oktar Varoğlu said “Festivals are a representation of the quality of a city. One can understand what strategies are followed in managing a city from its culture and arts activities. In this sense, we are happy to bring a worthy festival to the unique city that Bodrum is. It is also great to see the increasing attention of high level managers and business people of Bodrum showing interest to the festival. We wish to do the festival promotions in MENA area next year and we are open to all collaborations to achieve this”.
The festival is a collaboration between Turkish Republic’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism Copyright General Directorate, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Bodrum Municipality, Muğla University School of Fine Arts Graphic Design Department, Israel Consulate, Europe Jazz Network. Renault MAIS sponsored the Castle Concerts while TURMAKS sponsored a concert as well. Dibeklihan, TAV Passport, BODFAD, StratejiCo, Era Research, The Nature Love, Idecon, Asil Fırın and Körfez Restaurant were among the institutions that provided support fort he festival.
