The first four-track EP, ‘Cereyanlı-A’, of Alp Ersönmez’s highly anticipated ‘Cereyanlı’ album has been released on the 12th of February through Space Goats label.
Alp Ersönmez completed the recording of his project Cereyanlı in 2013 with many renowned and valuable musicians. The first EP features four tracks from the album.
The EP has been released through Space Goats on all digital platforms. We know Alp Ersönmez as a producer, composer and bass guitarist through his stage work with Tarkan, İlhan Erşahin’s İstanbul Sessions, YalınNil Karaibrahimgil, MadenÖktemErsönmez, Sonic Boom and Lost Songs of Anatolia concerts. The musician released ‘Yazısız’ in 2011 and he continues to perform his own music in ‘Cereyanlı’ for his listeners.
Every single piece of Cereyanlı features prominent musicians accompanying Alp Ersönmez. Swedish rapper Papa Dee, sensational Brazilian vocalist Thalma de Freitas, doyen French flutist Erik Truffaz, amazing Norwegian jazz pianist Bugge Wesseltoft and esteemed Turkish musicians Arto Tunçboyacıyan, Bulut Gülen, Can Çankaya, Can Şengün, Çağrı Sertel, Doruk Gönentür, Ediz Hafızoğlu, Engin Recepoğulları, İmer Demirer and Serhan Erkol.
Alp Ersönmez says he is pursuing a genre he calls “dance-scented jazz” in Cereyanlı. The album is inspired by the pieces written by masters such as Bugge Wesseltoft and Erik Truffaz in the beginning of the 2000s of different genres that bring electronics and live performance together. This energy, created by Alp Ersönmez’s analogue synthesizer infrastructure enriched by an amazing band of musicians, is contagious. The album features an arrangement concept that focuses on the details of trumpet, saxophone and trombone. Cereyanlı becomes an experience more than just an album when Alp’s bass guitar comes together with wind instruments that accompany and trade with soloists, funky guitars, occasional ethnic elements and energetic rhythms.
Alen Konakoğlu did the mixing of the first EP of Alp Ersönmez’s ‘Cereyanlı’ project while Evren Göknar did the mastering. The cover photo belongs to Cem Gültepe and the artwork belongs to Gümrah Şengün. The second EP ‘Cereyanlı-B’ is scheduled to be released in Spring.
