Mike Stern Band featuring Dennis Chambers, Leni Stern, Lincoln Goines & Bob Franceschini
21.10.2023, 20:00
One of the most amazing meetings in the jazz world is approaching. Guitarist Mike Stern will share the same stage with his wife, guitarist Leni Stern, drummer Dennis Chambers, saxophonist Bob Franceschini and bass guitarist Lincoln Gaines for the first time in Ankara.
On July 3, 2016, the world changed forever for Mike Stern. The multi-Grammy-nominated guitarist, prominent in Miles Davis’ band of the early ’80s and regular member of Steps Ahead, Jaco Pastorius’ Word of Mouth and the Brecker Brothers, was about to take a cab to his apartment when he tripped over some construction debris left in his street. The taxi he was going to take took him to the hospital. Stern not only broke both upper arms, but also suffered significant nerve damage in his right hand. At the end of 2016, after various interventions and long-term therapy, he felt sufficiently strengthened to return to the studio. Stern developed a unique guitar style that can appeal to jazz, blues and rock enthusiasts alike. During this concert his band also consists of his wife Leni Stern, also an excellent guitarist herself; saxophonist Bob Franceschini (Paul Simon, Celine Dion…); bass guitarist Lincoln Goines (Carly Simon, Dizzy Gillespie…); and the renowned drummer Dennis Chambers (John Scofield, Parliament, Funkadelic, Brecker Brothers, Santana…).
