What did you learn from your parents who are from different nationalities about music and life?
That racism sucks! That communication is key. That people should love and not hate.
Besides jazz what other art forms are you interested in and how they inspire your music?
I love the art of eating and drinking quality food and wine! I love Picasso, I love Almodovar, I love Soulages, I loveStravinsky, I love Monica Belluci, I love Marie-Lys, Navarro, I love Gabriel García Márquez, I love Dali, Alain Passard. It’s all about parallel super posive energies.
Today we live in a rather chaotic world, according to you how does this influence your music and other jazz musician, how do you think jazz will respond to this?
It is a verry scary world indeed ! It only make me attracted by the higher state of accomplishment, by a force full of love and positivness. I make believe. Love is stronger than all this nonsense.
Imagine that you are forming your ideal band, whom would you like to include there and why? These can be any living or dead musicians, and why?
John Coltrane on tenor and John Coltrane on soprano. John Coltrane on bass, John Coltrane on drums.
Imagine that your life is made into a musical movie, whom do you want to play your role and what ideals and values would that actor represent?
Jean-Pierre Daroussin seems frank and honest. Good enough for me.
Which Turkish jazz musicians do you know and like? If you have not met them would you like to meet them?
Yes! A lot of crazy good players from turkey. Honestly. I am more interested in Ethnic turkish music.
