NG Afyon, which blends the thermal pleasure with luxury and welcomes gastronomy lovers with all the riches of Afyonkarahisar cuisine, is in the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. It will host the 23rd Afyonkarahisar Jazz Music Festival on 1-6 June.
The opening of the festival will be held on the evening of June 1 with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality City Orchestra under the direction of Chief Kemal Günç and the performer Gabriela Vermelho.
Afyonkarahisar, which has made a name for itself not only with thermal, gastronomy, health and congress tourism, but also with the Classic and Jazz Music Festivals that have been going on for years, continues to bring culture and art lovers together.
Afyonkarahisar Jazz Festival, whose artistic director is Hüseyin Başkadem, will celebrate its 23rd anniversary at NG Afyon, on the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. At the opening concert to be held on June 1 at NG Afyon, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality City Orchestra, led by Conductor Kemal Günç, who stands out as a composer, will accompany the versatile performer Gabriela Vermelho. Özdemir Erdoğan, the living legend of Turkish music, will close the festival.
Ambitious jazz ensembles, veteran names…
At the 23rd Afyonkarahisar Jazz Music Festival, where ambitious ensembles of Czech jazz and original and veteran names of Turkish jazz will come together, jazz ensembles, each of which is unique and ambitious, will take the stage. The Bladderstones, with its magnetizing interaction of rhythm and guitar improvisations, crossing the border between styles, the Czech band Maraca, consisting of members devoted to music, Vermelho, the lead singer of Gabriela Vermelho Quartet, Luxus, the representative of Oriental Blues in Turkey, and Alper Bakıner are just a few of these ensembles.

The excitement of hosting valuable representatives of our country’s culture and art environment will continue in the School Talks section, which is one of the most loved and indispensable parts of the festival. This year, very important names of the culture and art world will come together with the students in the classrooms. Artist and academician Hüsamettin Koçan, who supports the development of local people with the Baksı Museum he established in his hometown Bayburt’s Bayraktar Village in 2005, Yalvaç Ural, the first name that comes to mind when it comes to children’s literature, and Adnan Özyalçıner, the living legend of the 50th Generation storytelling, who is preparing to celebrate his 90th birthday this year. , one of the most important painters of our country, Yıldız Technical University lecturer Yusuf Taktak, food instructor, gourmet and research writer Engin Akın, illustrator Piyale Madra, known for his “Picnic” and “Adams and Eves” tape cartoons, leading name in literary publishing and journalism, writer and editor Feridun Andaç, one of our country’s distinguished newscasters, presenters and moderators, educator Defne Sarısoy, writer and critic Metin Celal, and photographer and trainer Nadir Ede are among these names. The exhibition of painter Yusuf Taktak, born in Bolvadin, Afyon, who is among the most influential figures in shaping the art of painting in Turkey, will be opened in a village school in the Nuh Village of Afyon within the scope of the festival.
