Pink Martini will be performing for their many fans in Turkey and Northern Cyprus as a part of their European Tour. The band’s albums “Sympathique”, “Hang on Little Tomato”, “Hey Eugene!”, “Splendor in the Grass”, “Joy to the World”, “1969“, “A Retrospective”, “Get Happy” and “Dream A Little Dream” all went gold and platinum and are admired by many fans in Turkey.
The band interpreted unforgettable songs like ‘Quizas Quizas Quizas’, ‘Sway’ and ’Smile’ in their album ‘Get Happy’ and surprised their Turkish fans by including the popular song ‘Üsküdar’ to the tracks. They performed ‘Aşkın Bahardı’ song with Belkıs Özener in 2012 and recorded “Dream a little dream” with Von Trapps. This marks the 8th studio album for Pink Martini. The band is accompanied by the actual grandchildren of Captain and Maria Von Trapp as made famous by the movie ‘Sound of Music’.
The band describes themselves as “We’re kind of like musical archaeologists, bringing melodies and rhythms from different parts of the world together to create something which is modern”. Their songs have been included in many popular TV shows and movies such as The West Wing and Desperate Housewives.
Their eclectic repertoire includes many different genres from samurai love songs to Cuban music, from French chansons to Brazilian street songs. The warm vocals of Storm Large and their rich repertoire along with many surprises await their fans on the 17th of July in Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theater.
