Brazilian carnival fashion keeps expanding every day. In the past Brazil carnival fashion made us think of colorful, parade costumes. But it’s not the same anymore! They have new dress codes and new concepts such as ‘samba clothes’ and ‘carnival clothes’ have emerged. These new carnival accessories include samba dance boots, samba earings, carnival hair and purses. These are used by Passistas (professional samba dancers), carnival fans and parade watchers.
Samba clothes are mainly used for carnival activities, fance parties, festivals, samba rehearsals and fancy balls that take place before the parade. During these festive events, the main goal is to put forward carnival themed style and looks.
Lately one can see earing collections made out of high quality fur or handmade Swarovski crystals. These earings designed by Regina Odio range from 7cm to 35cm.
This special collection’s color palette was based on the festive events take place before the parade. Two months prior to the parade samba schools start rehearsing. Famous Brazilians, business people and tourists get together on a magnificent musical and cultural background. Some of these schools where the samba rehearsals are at include Salguero Samba School, Uniao da Ilha Samba School, Unidos da Tijuca and lately Sao Clemente Samba School.
Many pieces of this collection are influenced by the colors of dance schools in Rio de Janeiro. The yellow and black earings are the colors of Sao Clemente Samba school, which you can see at the parades. Blue, red and white are the colors of Uniao da Ilha Samba School. Many other traditional color combinations like these are a part of the parade.
Other important accessories of samba dancers and enthusiasts are the samba boots and sandals. These authentic samba boots are crafted using a new scanning technology. This way, the made-to-order shoes are a perfect fit to the specific dancer. These shoes, made of either Italian or Brazilian leather, are usually in silver or gold color, are non-slippery and feet have no place to move inside the shoe once worn. People often discuss how samba dancers are able to dance for 2-3 hours with heels up to 8 inch tall. Well, because they are custom made to each dancer it’s easy to dance for that long without any problems or pain.
