Zorlu PAC EFG will host London X Istanbul, curated by the London Jazz Festival
Zorlu PAC, Turkey’s innovative and pioneering institution in the field of culture and arts, will bring together the world-famous EFG London Jazz Festival, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, with jazz lovers in Istanbul with a special concert series. As part of the special jazz series “London X Istanbul”, London’s groundbreaking innovative voices, Nubya Garcia, Kokoroko, Jordan Rakei and Binker & Moses Zorlu Sons of Kemet, will take the stage at Zorlu PAC. With this special concerts, the London Jazz Festival will make its first international expansion to Turkey.
Zorlu Performing Arts Center will host the EFG London Jazz Festival with a special jazz project called “London X Istanbul” on the 30th anniversary of the festival. London X Istanbul will bring the emerging new voices of England to Istanbul by hosting pioneering artists in the British jazz scene at Zorlu PAC stages. Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia, Kokoroko, Jordan Rakei and Binker & Moses will take the stage at Zorlu PAC on May 14, 28 and 29 with exciting performances.
In a statement regarding this special collaboration, Zorlu PAC General Manager Filiz Ova said that they continue their activities with the aim of creating a free, creative, transforming and developing stage for art lovers and new art audiences, through national and international cultural collaborations with distinguished institutions and artists, and that the London Jazz Festival collaboration is an important step in this direction.
Pelin Opcin, Director of EFG London Jazz Festival, stated that one of the main tasks of the festival is to train talents in England and help them find their place in the sector, and that one of their biggest goals within the scope of the 30th anniversary celebrations is to facilitate international access to the UK’s magnificent jazz scene. Opcin said that this goal has been realized in cooperation with Zorlu PAC and thus the journey that will carry the EFG London Jazz Festival to international dimensions has begun.
As part of the special event where EFG London Jazz Festival Director Pelin Opcin and Zorlu Performing Arts Center General Manager Filiz Ova aim to create synergy, jazz musicians and bands from London will take the stage at Zorlu Performing Arts Center. Within the scope of London X Istanbul, which will meet with jazz lovers in Turkey in the spring of 2022, famous musicians of the world jazz scene will give the audience enjoyable and unforgettable moments. The three-day concert series will be held on the second and fourth weekends of May.
